Located in Cowichan Commons beside Triple O’s, Dragon Yuan has long been a go-to spot for Chinese takeout on Vancouver Island. Having relocated from their original home in Cobble Hill’s Valley View Centre, they continue to offer quality dishes with friendly, efficient service.

I dropped in around 5:30 on a Wednesday evening. The place was buzzing with customers picking up dinner, yet I was greeted right away by a smiling staff member behind the till. Her warmth set the tone for a great experience.

🍽️ Speedy Service

Despite being busy, I was told the wait would be about 15 minutes. To my surprise, my food was ready in less than 10. Packed hot into takeout containers and a reusable cloth-style bag, the presentation was thoughtful and efficient.

🍱 Taste Test

I had braced myself for soggy deep-fried prawns after the 30-minute drive home, but I was delighted to find everything still hot and the prawns crispy. The dishes tasted fresh and flavorful without the need for reheating.

I’ve been a fan of Dragon Yuan since their days in Cobble Hill. Back then, I switched from May’s to Dragon Yuan, and I haven’t looked back since. Their commitment to quality and consistency makes them a standout in the region.
