Located in Cowichan Commons beside Triple O's, Dragon Yuan has become a reliable destination for Chinese takeout on Vancouver Island. Formerly based in Cobble Hill’s Valley View Centre, they’ve brought their reputation for quality and warmth with them to their new home.

I stopped by around 5:30 PM on a Wednesday evening. Despite the dinner rush, I was greeted immediately by a friendly staff member behind the counter. Her smile and calm demeanor set a positive tone right away.

🍽️ Speedy Service

Even with several orders ahead of mine, I was told the wait would be about 15 minutes. Impressively, my food was ready in less than 10. It was neatly packed in sturdy containers and a reusable cloth-style bag — a small but thoughtful touch that didn’t go unnoticed.

🍱 Taste Test

After a 30-minute drive home, I expected some sogginess — especially with fried items — but was pleasantly surprised. The deep-fried prawns remained crispy, and every dish was still hot and full of flavor, no reheating necessary. That level of quality in takeout is rare.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Dragon Yuan since their original Cobble Hill days. I actually switched over from May’s and never looked back. Their consistency in both taste and service has made them a longtime favorite of mine and many others in the Valley.
